Drugstore Discovery Of The Week: Dangerously In Love With A Lipstick
As anyone who has seen Beyoncé in concert is well aware, bashful is something that Miss Knowles certainly is not. This is the woman, after all, whose most-viewed video involves little more than a leotard, a Mugler metal robot glove, and some very emphatic choreography. Last week, "Single Ladies" got a little competition on YouTube from B's commercial for L'Oréal's new Infallible Stars Collection. The six-piece line of celebrity-created Infallible Lipcolours features shades by brand spokeswomen like Diane Keaton and Linda Evangelista, but B's is by far the most audacious of the bunch. Her hue of choice is red-and not some wimpy wash but, fittingly, a bold rouge of the classic bombshell variety. Now, I love me some Beyoncé, and I love a good statement lip even more, so the idea of the two converging in one product kind of made my knees quiver with anticipation. Considering that the lipstick is boldly dubbed Infallible, I felt it necessary to put this tube to the test: a full evening's worth of drinks, dinner, and more drinks. When applied correctly-a bottom coat of color, wait five minutes to dry, then apply conditioning balm to seal-Infallible claims to last a full 16 hours. And I am happy to report that they are not just talking a big game. After a few bottles of wine, plentiful steak, and even some smooching, Beyoncé's Red did not fail me. In fact, it retained nearly all of its bright scarlet pigment throughout the night. Make no mistake: This is one magic bullet. L'Oréal's slogan, as repeated by Beyoncé in the commercial, has always been that you're worth it. At a mere $12 dollars, this lipstick is, too.
