Earth Month means...cool eco-friendly style

Hayden Harnett Green tote, $27
Hayden Harnett Green tote, $27

It being Earth Month (that's a thing now, right? I keep hearing about it..If nothing else, Earth Day is April 22), we've been receiving a ton of information about eco-friendly fashion and beauty. Some of it has been OK, some of it great and some of it, well, we wouldn't even wear it on a cross-country trip to Burning Man. After the jump, a linked-out list of our favorites.

FASHION...

Kelly Barry's Ruffle Wrap Dress, $120
It's made out of bamboo jersey by a tiny indie label in San Francisco. It looks sexy on, but not in a slutty way, comes in black and hot pink, and may be the most comfortable garment I've ever worn.

Stewart + Brown Embroidered Top, $98
I love the blue of this organic cotton top, the embroidery is fun but not too much and the Dolman sleeves and gathering bodice make it really flattering too.

Aristocrat Denim jeans, $130-$200
Everything about this jeans collection is eco-friendly (from the cotton to the dyes to the production) and what's also excellent is-unlike a lot of earth-friendly denim-every pair is tremendously soft and cut in a way that's crisp and stylish, not dowdy or crunchy. Did I mention they're also right now on sale at Barneys?

Banana's Green Line $28-$150
OK, among this 50-piece line (made of organic silk, cotton, linen and bamboo) some items look like your mantra-chanting neighbor might wear them to the local drum circle, but there are also a few really amazing, I'd-wear-them-for-years picks. Specifically, the bamboo-print tiered dress and a short-sleeved denim jacket. The collection is available now in select Banana Republic stores.

Hayden-Hartnett's Green bag, $27
It's not the most styling item on the block, but one hundred percent of the proceeds from this organic cotton bag support Farm Aid, an organization that promotes local, organic and sustainable farming. Also, it's really sturdy, graphic and perfect for summer farmer's markets and trips to the beach.

BEAUTY...

Korres Natural Products $13-35
I'm not going to say the lush, botanical products from this Greece-based line will change your life or anything, but its thick, perfect Yoghurt Body Butter made mine a little better.

Hamadi Beauty, $12-$40
I usually hate turning anyone on to expensive products, but this hair line from Hamadi is totally worth the splurge. Its made from ingredients like ginger, rice milk and shea butter and smells unbelievably good. Plus, the company has a soul: Its slogan is "Tested on actresses, never animals," and for the rest of the month, 5% of its proceeds go to the Natural Resources Defense Council.
