Emma Watson thinks celeb lines have gotten ridiculous. Smart lady.

On Friday I had the pleasure of meeting Harry Potter actress Emma Watson. She's grown up in the spotlight playing know-it-all Hermione Granger, but off screen she's become a favorite in the fashion industry. If you've seen any red carpet photos of Watson, you know the girl can dress. She says her closet is full of high end pieces from Proenza Schouler and Chanel (I noticed a black ceramic Chanel J12 on her dainty wrist) and she is the newest face of Burberry. But Emma will not be joining the ranks of J.Lo, Gwen Stefani, and other celebrities hawking their own goods.

"First and foremost, I'm an actress," says Watson. "I'm really not interested in doing it for my own ego. I'm not a designer. If someone asked me to do something that was beneficial to a cause, then maybe I'd consider it, but not just [to be able to say] 'Look at me! I've got my own line!' [It's] gotten so ridiculous." Wow. We're impressed with 19-year-old Watson's intelligent take on celebrities in the fashion industry. We can imagine her character, Hermione, echoing these words: "The idea of making my own perfume makes me want to vomit."

Once the Harry Potter series is done, Watson plans to attend college and take acting roles during summer break. "I really don't want fashion to overshadow my career," she says. "That's my worst nightmare."

Do you think too many stars have entered the fashion arena when they have no business being there? [WWD]
