Finally! The Fashion Commerical Parody We've Been Waiting For

FASHION FILM from Matthew Frost on Vimeo.

We've all been victims to the drive-by fashion commercial. You know, you're sitting in the movie theater minding your own business, and a trailer comes on for an interesting looking indie romance starring Olivia Thirlby.

What is this? You wonder, as you innocently stuff Sour Patch Kids into your mouth. Then something horrible happens. IT'S NOT A MOVIE TRAILER, STUPID. IT'S A TARGET ADVERTISEMENT. PRABAL GRUNG FOR TARGET. YOU'VE BEEN HAD.

We can all work out our frustration on the super-high budget fashion commercials with this delightful parody starring none other than one of our favorite comediennes, Lizzie Caplan. (You may remember Lizzy from TV's Party Down or as Lindsay Lohan's sidekick in Mean Girls.)

In the video, Caplan lazes about her apartment in a Zooey Deschanel like daze, looking through a flip camera and telling us how much she loves to collect things and think to herself in French and wondering "what she will be remembered for," while laying in the grass.

In fact, this video actually is a commercial for the new Viva Vena line from fashion designers Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai, a slightly less expensive version of their original brand, Vena Cava. The collection launches this spring at Nordstrom, Asos, Shopbop, and Nastygal and prices range from $59 to $159. If every fashion commercial was this witty, heck, we'd never stop shopping.

Now if you'll excuse us, we need to get back to "making our art." As you were.
