A few weeks ago we wrote about AnnaSophia Robb portraying a young Carrie Bradshaw in the new CW prequel series "The Carrie Diaries." Today we have our first glimpse of what a teenaged Bradshaw would look like in the 1980s.

"It's a rare invitation to dress a character whose reputation truly precedes her," said costume designer Eric Daman(of "Sex and the City" and "Gossip Girl" fame) in a statement. "Having played a hand in designing for the Carrie we know and love, I am honored to be chosen to carry the torch - to illuminate the woman we know by discovering the young lady she was."

As a further note on casting, writer/executive producer Amy B. Harris said: "The search for Carrie Bradshaw was an exciting adventure. Having been a part of the "Sex and the City" series, I felt such an honor and responsibility to the fans of the show to find someone who embodied the spirit of Manhattan's favorite 'It' girl. When AnnaSophia Robb walked into the room, we knew we had found her. Her grace, intelligence, sense of fun and her empathetic nature make her the perfect girl to bring our young Carrie to life. The fact that she loves a gorgeous pair of heels doesn't hurt either."

We're glad some folks that worked on the original series are on board to maintain the integrity of the character. We actually can picture Carrie Bradshaw dressing like this in the '80s, but some of the the clothing look a bit too modern. First off, the sequin dress is just right, and we can picture spunky Carrie putting the crinoline underneath. While leopard print was around in the '80s, the color, cropped cut, and 3/4 length sleeves seem a bit fresher than an '80s version. Pumps were definitely the shoe du jour of the '80s, but this particular carved out pair seems more now. And as for the rainbow belt-it does look very '80s, even if it reminds us of a very similar one from Marc by Marc Jacob's spring 2001 collection. OK, OK, we're nitpicking. Teenage Carrie looks pretty good.

What do you think of a young Carrie Bradshaw? Did the costumer do a good job? Does this photo make you want to check out the new CW series?
