For most of us, Black Friday is creeping up in an exciting but stressful way, but a small percentage of people may be sitting back and laughing at us for procrastinating. According to a new survey from Target (courtesy of Deloitte), 6% of those surveyed start their holiday shopping in January. Seriously? We know those post-Christmas sales can be great, but after spending money and giving presents and ripping open wrapping paper in December, do people really to jump back into the next year of gift-giving? According to the survey, 12% started hunting for the perfect present in October or earlier, 48% started in November, and 33% plan to procrastinate till December.

The holiday season should be a decent year for retailers, with 59% of store-goers and 11% of online shoppers saying they'll spend as much or more than they did on gifts than last year. Youngsters are admittedly more tech savvy with 78% likely to research their purchases online. 27% of people will use a smart phone of shopping this season-much more than last year. Those surveyed said the top reasons for shopping online were convenience, better prices, easy comparison shopping, free shipping, and better variety. 42% said they're shopping online in order to save on gas!

When it comes to the receiving end, nearly 50% are hoping to find clothing and accessories under the tree. Around 45% would prefer gift cards to shop for themselves. Roughly 38% have electronics on their wish list, 30% want CDs or DVDs, and 25% wants cold, hard cash.
