The Girls Season 3 Poster Puts the Clique's Disney Princess Alter-Egos on Display

Had you asked me what motifs the Girls season three promo art might draw inspiration from, "princesses" would have been way down on my potential list of answers, a distant 99th behind guesses like "dollar pizza" and "pantslessness" and "Brooklyn garbage pile." (In my mind, Hannah tripping and falling into one of New York's sidewalk trash-bag skyscrapers would be proportional to Carrie Bradshaw getting splashed by the bus.)

But look!

First off, I adore this shot. It's perfect. I mean, except for Hannah's oddly twisted leg (the former ballerina in me just wants to correct her turnout), it's perfect. But let's not stop at classifying this under "princess" and calling it a day. If they didn't want us to debunk which girl is which Disney heroine, they wouldn't have put Marnie in a yellow ballgown. So let's start there.

Marnie is Belle

Yeah, the golden tulle is a dead giveaway, but these two are kindred spirits if I ever met a pair. Both are super-motivated and have a habit of falling for beasts--and by beasts, I mean coldhearted artists and new-money hipsters, though we won't have to suffer the latter anymore.

Shoshanna is Aurora

Shosh is all about the eye-opening revelations right now--trailer quote: "My life is a mess and I know that was a personal choice, but maybe it is time for me to unchoose that choice." Post-awakenings, both wear pink.

Jessa is Rapunzel
They've both got long golden hair and an air of mystery. Tell me you can't hear Jessa casually tossing off, between Barcelona and Cambodia anecdotes, that "I spent 18 years meditating in a very exclusive tower, by choice, because the external world was boring me."

Hannah is Cinderella

Cindy managed to hang onto one shoe, but Hannah's gone and lost both. Classic Horvath. But you know what? It's not a ball without her.
