Michael Jackson, “Thriller”-
1984
From Thriller
Directed by John Landis

"Thriller" is more than 13 minutes long and because of that length it's something of a cheat-a double dip. There's the movie within the movie, starring a '50s-set Michael Jackson as a wolfman teen. Jackson dazzles in a vintage varsity jacket and madras shirt that'd light up any college campus today. Then there's the present-day M.J., and his fetching date played by Ola Ray, in more era-specific attire. Like, ahem, that red leather jacket. You know the one-diving black V across chest, sleeves pushed to the elbow, collar flipped. To say nothing of the red tailored chinos, black loafers, and white socks. As with most vintage King of Pop style, it sounds ridiculous-until you see the man pull it off. But then, he's King for a reason. -Sean Fennessey

In honor of the anniversary of that dramatic shift, GQ partners with VEVO to celebrate the most stylish music videos ever.
