OK, so we've heard the expression "burning money," but this story takes the meaning to an entirely new level. Francesca Eastwood set a Birkin bag worth more than $100,000 (yes, that's five zeros) on fire and posted the pictures on her boyfriend's blog. Underneath the images reads, "Destruction is a beautiful version of freedom...Would you want this bag? Are you sad to see me destroy it?"

We can think of a few people (um, us!) who would love to have that bag, and would use it rather than douse it in gasoline and set it aflame. And clearly we're not alone, because Eastwood is now getting a ton of fiery backlash from angry bloggers and Tweeters. She's even getting death threats. Apparently the image of a Birkin bag being destroyed at the hands of Clint Eastwood's daughter makes people really, really, mad.

Most of the comments are too harsh to even print, but here are a few, to give you an idea:

@dr0psintheocean
So ungrateful. Selfish. You could've done something meaningful like donating that money. Some people actually have to work hard.

@samanthaa_mills
It disgusts me how insensitive, and offensive @Francesca_E destroying 100,000 Birkin bag is to the hard working people in this country

@TexasForever5
This is ridiculous! If someone chooses to ruin a Birkin THEY CAN! If you don't like it DON'T WATCH IT! @Francesca_E Do what you want!

What do you think?
Is burning a Birkin wasteful? The result of a rich girl mentality? Or simply freedom of expression? Discuss below.

*UPDATE: After all the backlash, Tyler Shields (Francesca Eastwood's boyfriend who took the photos) has offered to donate $100,000 to a family in need. Does this change your opinion?
