How Many Pairs of Shoes Do You Own -- and How Many Do You Actually Wear?

Did you know the average woman owns approximately 20 pairs of shoes? And out of those 20 pairs, she only wears five of them on a regular basis? Shocking, I know. Who only owns only 20 pairs of shoes? Definitely not me (my number: 42, don't judge).

The fact that I'm so far from average makes me wonder if I'm just especially susceptible to the evil geniuses at work in the shoe department in Nordstrom. No matter what my shopping mission is that day, something just pulls me toward the shoes. Then, somehow, half of my paycheck vanishes. Seriously though, how do you resist when you see shoes like these? I'm telling you, evil geniuses.

But of course, it's impossible to wear all of those shoes when you're constantly buying new ones. Which means I end up sticking to my two or three favorite pairs, usually these super comfy and trendy ones. The rest? They end up sitting in my closet for years -- unworn.

I was getting sick of this happening, so I decided to have my first official "shoe closet cleaning." Here's what I found: out of my 42 pairs of shoes (that's 84 shoes total!) -- I actually wear only 10 pairs on a regular basis. I guess no one really needs 16 pairs of stilettos ... I should probably just take this quiz to find the perfect shoes for my personality, then I would never have to go shoe shopping again. Yeah. Right.

Now, you tell me: how many shoes do you own now? And how many do you actually wear?
Go look in your closet, count 'em, then leave a comment below with your number (no cheating!).
