Okay, you've been staring at your closet for hours, trying to figure out what to wear and nothing in there is waving at you saying "wear me!" You could be out shopping trying to figure out what you need to pull the stuff that's jammed in your closet and you're (let's face it) wigging out. It would be easier to get a pretzel then pick a bag. Before you shop, or fling open the closet door, read our tips on how to always look as pulled together as Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj or Kate Middleton.

Know your colors

Take inventory of the colors in your closet. Most people gravitate toward a certain color palette. Is your closet full of neutrals? Cool colors? Warm? Is it full of prints, or completely devoid of them? Once you have the answer, select accessories that compliment, but don't compete with your pieces. If your palette is all over the place, soft metallics or nudes can be paired with anything. Mustard is another versatile color that can be considered to be just as neutral as beige, but not as bland.

Be wise about prints

If you are somewhat print-phobic, sticking to printed accessories is a great way to incorporate them. Although practically any print can look great against a solid base, it is a good idea to select prints that would compliment a wide range of colors and shades. If you are feeling adventurous, slightly more muted prints are among the easiest to mix as well.

Throw something on your head

This advice may attract controversy, but I am crazy about decorating my melon. I think an outfit needs a good top-off. For a more subtle effect, a headband adds a small point of interest and keeps your hair out of your face. Want a bit more attention? Try a topping everything off with a chic hat or fascinator, it'll keep people looking your way.
