How to Get Heat-Proof Summer Hair

Follow these simple steps to get a great summer 'do that won't end up looking like a hot, damp mess.

In order to achieve this easy heat- and humidity-proof style, Gabriel H.S.E. of Michael Angelo's Wonderland Beauty Parlor says you'll need bobby pins, dry shampoo, hairspray, and a nourishing protective oil.

17 MUST-HAVE HAIR TOOLS

Step 1
Create a deep side part that angles toward the center of your head. If hair is oily or a few days old, spritz dry shampoo on the roots near your part. (Gabriel likes Label.m.)

Step 2
Starting from the parted side, twist hair across and up off the nape of your neck. Secure the whole roll with crossed bobby pins. (Tip: Lightly sandpaper the bobby pins before you start for a matte, vintage look.)

Step 3
Once the hair is secured to one side, wrap sections of the front, still-down portion around a curling iron to maximize natural wave. Rub a little oil (Shu Uemura's Essence Absolue is great) on the ends to fight frizz and fly aways. Finish with hair spray.

For an even breezier style, tie hair just behind the ear with a ponytail holder. Separate it into two sections and twist each in opposite directions. Pin into a messy side bun.
