J' adore Dior, Naturally: Pat McGrath Brings Back the '60s

Who else but Pat McGrath could be responsible for the theatrical makeup at Dior? Frequent Dior collaborator Orlando Pita was in charge of super-sizing the models' hair.

The Look: "It's a strong 60s influence," says McGrath. "We're doing huge, huge, huge eyes." (HUGE.) The inspirations were "Veruschka, Raquel Welch, Baby Jane Holzer-those iconic 60s women." Lash queens, you're going to love this: Pat added showgirl-style feathery false lash strips to the upper lashes, and put traditional false lash strips to the lower lashes. She sealed the deal with multiple coats of black mascara.

As for the hair, brace yourself: It was a giant, bouffant mass of waves. To get the volume, Pita added in extra hair pieces. To get the height, he back-combed the girls' hair into oblivion.

The Scene: Utter chaos, of course. With 60 models and majorly stressed staffers, the place was a zoo (albeit a beautiful one).

Lesson Learned: With big hair comes big responsibility: The models' gigantic hairstyles made navigating through the crowd all that more treacherous, adding to the tense atmosphere.
