Kate Bosworth Wants to Throw a Festival-Themed Wedding

Photo: Just JaredWhile most of our Coachella 2013 experience has been spent seeing our favorite bands and attending star-studded soirées, we've also been taking in the awesome bohemian street style. And who better to weigh in on what to wear to a concert than Coachella staple and sartorial muse, Kate Bosworth? We stopped by her Palm Springs hotel room-where her fiancé Michael Polish was hanging out, too-to chat outfits, bands, and engagement plans

ELLE: What is your go to festival outfit?

Kate Bosworth: Well, I suppose it depends on the festival. For Coachella, it is obviously usually pretty warm, although last year was a bit of a freak rainstorm, so I had to borrow Michael's army jacket unexpectedly. But usually it is pretty warm, and then it gets a bit cooler at night, so usually having some kind of layering option stuck in your bag is a good idea. And comfortable footwear. After walking around at a festival all day, I've ended up wrapping my feet up in tape because they just got so beat up.

ELLE: What's your choice of shoes: Sandals, sneakers, or boots?

KB: I've been doing boots this festival. It's kind of like pick your poison. If you wear sandals you can get trod on and all dirty, and if you wear boots you want to make sure you pick the most comfortable boots so you don't get blisters. Don't wear new shoes, and make sure you wear them around quite a bit before you wear them to a festival.

ELLE: What have you worn so far?

KB: A Topshop top and matching shorts. Today, I am going to wear a Topshop vest, because it's a little cool. (See above, courtesy of Just Jared).

ELLE: How do you manage your time between attending all the parties and the shows?

KB: I don't really do many parties to be honest. I came with Mulberry last year and they had a really fun here at Le Parker Méridien Palm Springs hotel, but I was staying there. I'm mostly the type of festival-goer who is just interested in the music and seeing the shows.

ELLE: What was your favorite performance so far?

KB: We loved seeing Beach House.

Michael Polish: Beach House was great, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs were great.

ELLE: What are you really excited to see for

the rest of the weekend?

KB: I'm excited about New Order tonight and The xx I think will be good. And Phoenix is playing tonight-I think they'll be good.

ELLE: What other festivals are you going to be attending this summer ?

KB: I don't know. I've never been to Glastonbury. I'd love to check that one out.

MP: The wedding, that's your festival.

ELLE: We were just going to ask about your wedding plans…

MP: It's a festival wedding [laughs].

KB: No, no, it's going to be a great party. Our goal is for everyone to have a really good time.

ELLE: Can't wait to see what you decide to wear!

KB: Oh, thank you. It's going to be a fun process.

ELLE: So I know you've designed a lot of collaborations, but would you ever do your own line?

KB: Yes, I would. Any project that I am a part of, I am very much aware of the fact that it is important to understand your craft, and have a talented and a bright team around you. In terms of what the next part of the journey looks like, those are the things that I think would be forefront in my mind.

ELLE: How would you approach designing?

KB: It's an instinctual process really. I would pick a season and figure out what the main views are of the collection, and I would probably start quite small.

ELLE: Any other projects coming up that you want to tell us about?

KB: Just finished another film with this man over here. We wrapped right before we started this. We did a couple of digital campaigns with the collection, so we just shot that. Literally, we arrived from shooting that out in the desert here. Yesterday we went out in the field, and it was just so crazy-all the energy. Before that, we shot a film in L.A. called Rememory, and it's sort of a psychological thriller that I think will be quite unexpected for people. It's pretty crazy that movie.
