Kate Middleton Shops at the Gap!

The Gap is really having a moment! A few weeks ago, Barack Obama stopped by a Midtown Manhattan Gap, where he purchased some items for Michelle, Malia, and Sasha. And now, Kate Middleton has made a visit to the clothing outlet, which is basically the holy grail of press ops. ("O.K., we're done for the year," the Gap exec tells her entire P.R. corps. "Now that we have Kate, we literally don't need any more press. See you guys in January.")

Kate-who will leave this weekend for her weeks-long tour of Australia and New Zealand-was accompanied by three bodyguards, who, the Daily Mail reports, escorted her in a Range Rover for the 500 yard-drive from Kensington Palace (O.K., so maybe she's not exactly like us). She spent about 20 minutes inside the store, where she spent a total of £126.44 (equivalent to approximately $210.45). She purchased, for eight-month-old George, a pair of denim shorts at £14.95, two navy-and-white-striped "babygrows" (which sounds like a term from a dystopian Y.A. series, but seems to be a British word for onesie) at £14.95 each, and a pair of grey-and-navy-striped cotton trousers at £8.95. She also bought two pairs of pants for herself. (This level of detail! We're frankly surprised they didn't just e-mail a copy of the receipt into all of our inboxes.)

According to the Daily Mail, Kate waited in line behind other shoppers to pay for all of these purchases with a credit card, which indicates there were shoppers at the Gap who went ahead and fumbled with their wallets and paid for their crew necks or messenger bags or whatever while Kate Middleton waited in line behind them. Who are these people!? Should they ever be identified, they will likely need to join the woman who wore the same dress as Kate over the weekend in witness protection.
