It's hard to believe, but, yes, friends, the end of Kate, William, and George's time in New Zealand and Australia is upon us. The royal family will be returning to England on Friday, which means our embarrassment of riches-in the form of Kate outfits, George facial expressions, and awkward William "jokes"-is about to come to a close. At least we have Prince George iPhone wallpaper options to last us through the summer.

Thursday night, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended a reception at Parliament House, which was attended by some 600 people, including Australian Olympians, fashion designers, politicians, and war heroes. Kate-in a bit of a surprise-did not opt for favorite designers Jenny Packham or Alexander McQueen, but instead went with a white dress from Texan-born Lela Rose, whose clothes she has never worn before. (No doubt, Rose-previously best known for designing the outfits worn by Jenna and Barbara Bush during their father's 2001 inauguration-woke up this morning to find her phone melted from text message overload.)

William gave a speech at the reception, in which he reflected on their time across the two countries: "Reluctantly, Catherine, George and I leave Australia tomorrow. Thank you for the warmth and generosity that has been shown to us during our visit. We go away with wonderful memories, and George goes away with his cuddly wombat, which he has taken to chewing so lovingly. We greatly look forward to coming back. And when we do return, it will be to marvel again at all that Australia is, and will yet become."

And then turntables were brought out from behind the podium, and Kate took the stage in a hoodie and oversize headphones to "get the party started-D.J. Duchess in the house!" (we wish).

Though his speech was somewhat formal, per the Daily Beast, William was more relaxed offstage, as Vicki Kelly, wife of M.P. Craig Kelly, divulged: "Prince William said he was hoping to rip off his pants down at the beach with [Australian prime minister] Tony Abbott to reveal their Speedos." The dude clearly knows that, if he wants to compete with his wife and son for press attention on this tour, he needs to pull out all the stops in his last 24 hours.
