Lipstick or lip gloss: Which team are you on?

Even the most no-frills woman can attest to putting something on her lips, whether it's a balm, stain, plumper, gloss, or lipstick. One thing we've noticed though, is that while there are ladies who love luxurious lipsticks, and there are those who swear by a shimmery gloss, rarely do they wear both. Chanel is hoping to change all that with the launch of their new Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour. They believe lip gloss addicts can be swayed over to lipsticks with the new light weight, long-lasting and hydrating formula of their latest collection.

"Women seem to have forgotten how to apply lipstick," says Peter Phillips, Chanel's global creative director for makeup. "We have a whole generation of lip gloss girls. Now, there's absolutely nothing wrong with lip gloss, but there is something so feminine about the act of applying lipstick. I want to make lipstick as easy to apply as lip gloss, and for a long-lasting formula to feel comfortable on the lips."

Applying and wearing lip gloss is pretty fool-proof, but Phillips is right--when you put on lipstick you just feel like a sophisticated lady. Chanel's new shades launch in March, and will range from soft pink to deep rose to bright red. We're already noticing lighter weight lipsticks on the market from Clinique, Maybelline, MAC, and Guerlain.

Are you a lipstick or a lip gloss woman? And do you think you could ever be swayed?
