Love It or Hate It: The Best and Worst Dressed at BAFTA!

Here are the good, the bad, and the downright ugly fashion choices at BAFTA Brits to Watch event!

After months of red carpet fashion drought, alas, we had the BAFTAS: Brits to Watch event in Los Angeles this past weekend. Held at the Belasco Theater, the star-studded event brought 42 of the best up-and-coming British talents together with some of Hollywood's elite including Jennifer Lopez and Blake Lively for an evening of A-list fun.

When the red carpet is rolled out, celebs pull out the hot designers. From Alexander McQueen to Emilio Pucci, the fiercest names in fashion were on display as TV and films' best posed for the cameras. Some stars hit the fashion nail on the head, while others fell short of the mark. The stars shone bright in LA on Saturday night. Here are the best and worst dressed.

Worst Dressed

Mary Louis Parker

Dolce and Gabbana and Weeds actress, Mary Louise Parker, should be a match made in red carpet heaven, right? Not so much. The red color is a great start, but the stitching around the knees and the misplaced flower in the waist causes this look to fall short of the glamour finish line. Better luck next time Mary!

Jennifer Lopez

We're used to Jennifer Lopez daring to be bold on the red carpet (Grammy Awards circa 2000 ring a bell?) but this Emilio Pucci design is a daredevil mess. (Jen honey, ever heard of Spanx? Hint, hint). This would be a beautiful dress to wear to the Vibe Music Awards, but to meet the next king and queen of England? Nope. Try again!

Dana Delany

Dana Delany decided to take a walk on the wild side in this Baroque print Prada dress, but she should have been tamed before exiting the limousine. The dress is memorable…for all of the wrong reasons. The tiger print Prada stole sets this outfit in the wrong direction. It is just a huge fashion fail.

Elizabeth Banks

Actress Elizabeth Banks went vintage for this event in a fall 2011 white Versace gown. She should have stayed modern. Versace's signature Medusa gold buttons accentuate the dress along the waist and the strap making the outfit more suitable for an afternoon on the yacht than a red carpet event with royalty. Where is Hugh Hefner's captain's hat? It would complete this outfit.

Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain, Jessica Chastain, Jessica Chastain! How did she manage to steal her Grandmother's living room curtains and sew them into a dress in time for the red carpet? Less is more this summer, but this dress should be hung on the curtain rods never to be worn again.

Best Dressed

Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge

Her husband is the President of the British Academy for Film and Television Arts and in this phenomenal piece; Kate Middleton looks every part a first lady. The flowing, lilac Alexander McQueen dress suits the princess well. It is elegant, fashionable, and shows her playful personality. I demand an encore!

Blake Lively

Wow, Blake Lively is stunning in this spring 2011 Marchesa gown. Lively sparkles in this gown, proving that being fully clothed doesn't distract from being glamorous.

Gugu Mbatha Raw

We might not know Gugu Mbatha Raw well, but after her breathtaking appearance in this royal blue Reem Acra gown, we can be sure that she has a future has a fashion icon.

Maria Bello

Maria Bello channels classic 50's Hollywood glam in this fabulous Donna Karan original. The unique color paired with the braided stitching makes for a knockout combination.

Elizabeth Moss

Mad Men star Elizabeth Moss rounds out this list in an effortlessly chic J. Mendel gown. The nude color of the dress should have washed Moss' complexion out, but instead, she glows in this piece. With an oversized Lauren Merkin clutch and gold Vhernier jewelry as accessories, Elizabeth Moss is simply beautiful.
