The whole sheer-dress-over-retro-lingerie thing has been popping up quite a bit on the red carpet lately -- Julianne Hough and Lena Headey both rocked the trend at the Emmys.

Our take: if you're gonna show off a ton of skin, keep the rest of your look simple. Note Maria's one piece of jewelry (statement earring for color) and basic black pointy pumps (no strappy sitch here...you're naked enough). Also good? Hair that doesn't look like you've primped it for hours (even if you did, in fact, spend a bit of time on it).
