MBFW: Aloha! Mara Hoffman Goes Hawaiian for Spring '13!

From ukuleles to flirty bandeaus and maxis, we'll be channeling the sandy shores of Hawaii next spring thanks to Mara Hoffman.

Mara Hoffman's spring/summer '13 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week show started with the soothing sound of ukuleles. Admittedly, gazing down the runway at the trio of smiling strummers was a welcome sight after pushing through hordes of fashionistas to reach my seat.

And if that was any indication, the breezy, beautiful lineup was straight out of a Hawaiian summer dream. Models glided down the runway in sexy bustiers, flowing gowns, wild swimsuits, and mini dresses.

Hues ranged from sunny yellows to brilliant reds and the prints were just as varied. We'd spot rich Ikat prints one moment and bold color blocking the next. Meanwhile, feminine materials like wispy chiffon and lattice added soft touches to the daring patterns.

Perhaps one of the most interesting aspects of the summery collection was the skirt and dress lengths. Whether her models walked in maxi, midis, or minis, Hoffman's line still managed to exude island flair. One thing's for certain: When it comes to tops, you'll soon be saying aloha to the notice-me bustiers in an array of summery shades.

Now if only Hoffman would let us borrow this line for our next beach vacation! A gal can dream, can't she?
