Once again Herve Leger by Max Azria celebrates the natural form of the modern woman with his stunning Spring 2013 collection. In a refreshing and surprising movement from his classic banding silhouette, Spring 2013 mixes gorgeous neutrals with color blocking, belts and harnesses that create the perfect blend of femininity, edge and sophistication.

Taking inspiration from the South, specifically the talented women of Gee's Bend, Alabama and their impressive quilt making, the collection is a nod to female empowerment. While dresses were true to the classic Herve silhouette with cinched form fitting waistlines, hems were both pleated and straight, right above the knee or below the knee.

Twenty two models with dewy neutral makeup looks and braided or pin straight architectural-styled hair walked the runway looking absolutely stunning in the collection.

Halter necks, geometric lines, scalloped fabrics, smock detail and appliqué were everywhere with a strong emphasis on black mixed with tan, blush, alabaster, cream, cobalt blue and grays. Some favorites were the form fitting, gorgeous cream/alabaster paint suit that looked lace but toughened with structure and clean lines. Another standout was a blue sapphire high neck dress with all over embroidery. They style seamlessly combined that perfect mix of soft femininity and edge.

Graphic lines were emphasized further in the super sexy full piece swimsuits with extensive cut outs on the side, although I don't think these malliots could sustain a splash in the pool given their delicate fabric and construction! These were certainly for lounging, appropriately called playsuits.

To top off a miraculous collection of dresses, pants and playsuits-leather and python ankle booties, belts, corset type harnesses turned up the volume to create a look that exudes strength and sex appeal for the ultimate modern woman.

Bravo, Herve Leger by Max Azria!
