MBFW: 'Project Runway's' Season Finale Has Us Cheering... And a Little Confused

'Project Runway's' finalists got to strut their stuff on the runway at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Their styles almost eclipsed Heidi Klum and Jennifer Hudson's glamour. Almost!

All right, ladies, it's Fashion Week, so you know what that means. That's right: The Project Runway season finale! Yesterday morning the contestants and judges, including guest judgeJennifer Hudson, were all in attendance to film the season's last hoorah. If you're anything like us, you can't believe that the show is in 10 seasons deep. It seems like it was just yesterday when we fell in love with Tim Gunn's famous "Make it work!" line and were jumping up and down for the show's very first winner, Jay Mccarroll.

In typical Project Runway fashion, each designer introduced his or her collection and let the models take it away (while possibly saying a secret prayer for the best as they exited the stage). Each collection brought out a different emotion, which was intensified through the great music choices; they were each, however, hit or miss with the audience. All the finalists showed, including Christopher Palu, Melissa Fleis and Dmitry Sholokhov. In the interest of time, we've covered four of the finalists below.

For Example, Ven Budhu showed glamorous red and white ensembles fit for any Academy Award acceptance speech, yet audience members thought that "it was a bit too much" and more "suitable for bridesmaids."

Gunnar Deatherage took a huge risk by creating a collection of tribe-like garments in rich brown shades that he said "was inspired by aborigines and exotic tribes." Though his designs were out of the ordinary, his vision translated well and made an impression. Oh, and the thumping drums helped build the excitement, as well!

Sonjia Williams was probably one of the most talked about designers of the night. Her collection was full of lace, interesting head pieces, and a dress so long and slim we were left distracted by the model trying to tame it. When introducing her collection, Williams revealed that it is "based off [of herself], a bold, strong collection for confident women." Williams designs were definitely bold and by far the most authentic; however, they did leave us scratching our heads.

After the show, season 7 Runway winner Seth Aaron said that he enjoyed Fabio Costa's collection the most because it was "fresh, elegant, well put together -- just beautiful!"

Overall, we enjoyed the show and wish all eight of the designers good luck! Though who are we kidding; we already know who the winner is… Heidi Klum and that dress!
