It's pretty clear Miley Cyrus has officially established a signature look: the platinum pixie cut, the red lip, those spidery lashes, that perfect skin. The singer's nothing less than meticulous when it comes to her image (and, may we add, her music. As you probably noticed, she was conspicuously missing from last night's Grammy Awards!).

Thankfully, she wasn't absent from the pre-Grammy parties. And not only was she there, but she also showed up in an entirely different beauty look than anything we've seen her wear in ages. With her rosy cheeks and sweet pink lips, it was practically angelic? So we reached out to her makeup artist Pati Dubroff to hear how the pretty beauty moment came about. "I've been working with Miley since she was 14," she explains. "I love the girl I remember, who had flawless skin and wore no makeup. So we wanted to go back to that-soft, creamy, and dreamy."

Dubroff began with a crucial step: A light exfoliation followed by Sisley's Flower Gel Express Mask to perfect the complexion. That one's great, but it's also a little pricey. Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask makes a more affordable-but equally worthy-option. Then, she used a mattifying pore minimizer (try Givenchy Mister Mat) and applied Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturizer with a stipple brush, popping Kevyn Aucoin blush in Pravella on the apples of the cheeks.

For everything else, Dubroff stuck to neutrals. She used Surratt's Smoky Eye Baton in taupe on the crease of the eye, then lined the inner rim and upper lashes with NARS Larger than Life Eye Pencil in Rue Bonaparte. She finished it off by mixing two Chanel cream shadows-one purple, one white-on the center of the lid. As for those show-stopping lashes? "Miley's just blessed. Sorry guys, life's not fair sometimes," Dubroff says, laughing. "I just curled them and added one coat of mascara."

Finally, a matte pink lip (give Tarte Lipsurgence in Lucky a whirl) replaced the creamy red that's become the singer's go-to. The finished look was a grown-up, refined kind of beautiful-but don't dare call it boring. In true Miley fashion, she wore it with a giant pink Calvin Klein fur coat and a Chanel purse shaped like a perfume bottle. Playing it safe just isn't her thing (and we love her for it!).
