From Movies to Music to Modeling for Abercrombie, Diego Boneta's Having the Best Year Ever

After heartthrob-status roles on Pretty Little Liars and 90210, posing for Abercrombie & Fitch-which typically means frolicking oceanside and often involves being flanked by models and/or puppies-wasn't exactly a stretch for Diego Boneta.

The 23-year-old up-and-comer, who earned major buzz for his leading role in Rock of Ages, has been a pop star in his native Mexico forever. "I started singing and acting when I was 12," he says, going on to explain-full of humble charm-that he was a star on a super famous Spanish soap opera for four years. But there's more. He was also impressively nominated for two Latin Grammys as a kid. "Now I want to put out new music for my new fans, thanks to all of these projects I've recently had, as well as for the fans who have been following me throughout my entire career. I'm working on my third album now. It's soulful pop with a tiny bit of a rock edge-like Bruno Mars with a bit more oomph to it."

And when he's not in the recording studio working on becoming the next Bruno, he's juggling half a dozen movie roles. "Last year was an awesome year, because I did four movies back-to-back. It was insanely busy, but it was a blast. And all the movies were in crazy locations-I was shooting in Brazil, Malaysia, and Colombia, and now I'm about to go to Barcelona to start the fifth one. I just got the lead in this horror movie called Summer Camp."

But at the moment, he's just basking in the glow of being part of Abercrombie's prestigious up-and-comer campaign that counts Taylor Swift and Channing Tatum among its alums. "I still remember being 8, 9, 10 years old, hanging out with my friends at the mall, getting that sick cologne-which I still love-and buying all the clothes. It was the biggest deal ever." Flash-forward a decade, and now he's wallpapered around Abercrombie & Fitch stores nationwide. An even bigger deal, if you ask us.
