Little girls are growing up so quickly these days. They act sexy, they dress like adults (five-year-old Suri Cruise has a $150,000 shoe collection), they have their own cell phones, and now they even have their own salons. The Daily Mail reports that a brand new beauty parlor in England called Trendy Monkeys has a strict 13-and-under policy for clients who can receive haircuts, mani/pedis, makeup applications, facials, and spray tans. They even offer a "Princess Pamper Party" where girls are picked up in a pink limo and brought to the salon for treatments. Sounds a bit much for the pre-teen set, no? Whatever happened to sleepovers where girls watch scary movies, eat junk food, and give each other manicures?

Shy Keenan, a child protection consultant, told the Daily Mail, "This is outrageous - it is giving children a complex about the way they look from the age of one." Trendy Monkeys salon owner, 28-year-old single mom Michelle Devine told the Daily Mail her business will make girls "exude confidence, glamour and the desire to look her best at all times, regardless of age," adding, "I will do spray tans if parents want them."

While there is no salon designated to kids here in the US, an increasing rate of children's services are being offered. Dashing Diva salon offers "Little Diva" manis/pedis for girls eight and under, while many manicurists across the country offer discounts and polish changes for kids.

The salon treatments may not be as extreme as the Barbie mom who just gave her seven-year-old a boob-job voucher for her birthday (scary), but we have to wonder if this is all too much for the little ladies of the world. A manicure is one thing, but spray tans and facials? Let kids be kids! There's plenty of time to doll themselves up and worry about if they're "pretty enough" for later on in life.
