Nicole Richie's Bright Dress is Springtime Inspiration

It's spring, you guys, it's freakin' spring! Okay, fine, the season doesn't officially start until March 20, but it's gorgeous out in New York today, so why don't we just improvise? I think it'll be best for everyone.

Alright, so, despite it technically still being winter, the warmer temperatures and -- hello! -- daylight savings have got spring and summer seriously on my mind. To be honest, it's kind of all I can think about right now. And of course, shortly after thoughts of cocktails outside and an overall feeling of well-being, my brain goes straight to clothes. Bright clothes.

That's right, my dark-colored-loving friends. You're going to have to don some dark clothes for the funeral of your dark clothes some time in the near future. 'Cause the upcoming seasons are all about the brights. And that's a good thing. I mean, look at Nicole Richie.

Okay, fine. Of course Nicole Richie looks good in brights. She's teeny-tiny, and her skin-tone was basically made for such shades. But they'll look good on you, too! I swear! Check out these five adorable, bright springtime dresses -- that will look good on anyone.

Yellow H&M dress

This H&M dress ($29.95) is sort of reminiscent of Nicole's, no? And, yes, it will look good on you! The shape couldn't be more flattering, and if it's a little too much yellow for you, throw a cardigan or a scarf on over to temper it a bit.

This emerald green dress from Zara ($59.90) is amazing not only because emerald green is one of my favorite colors, but because it's a little dressier than your typical springtime dress. Temperatures are bound to drop again, and you can totally pair this with black tights and a black blazer. In other words, no need to feel guilty about purchasing this now.

Okay, totally obsessed with this one. This "tomato" colored dress from Forever 21 -- which retails for $18.90! -- is the perfect thing to buy if you're on the fence about brights. One, because, hello, it's not even 20 bucks, and two, because, if it's too intimidating to wear alone, it can absolutely be worn as a cover-up at the beach. Super cute.

Alright, so this Gap dress ($79.95) may not be for those of you first dabbling in the whole brights thing -- it's loud, to say the least. But for those who feel more comfortable with the colors, all you. This dress is fantastic -- and it looks incredibly comfortable.

Gotta love Old Navy. An adorable maxi-dress for $29.94. Mark my words, if you buy this dress, you will kill it this summer. There's nothing easier -- or more stylish -- than a solid-colored maxi. Throw on some gold jewelry -- and a little self tanner -- boom, you're good to go. Anybody's good to go.

Are you into brights for spring?
