Odina Surf: Gisele Bündchen Supermodel Style Inspiration in Eco-Friendly Swimwear

Describe Tim Burton's work in a few words: sexy, dark, high glam, retro-cinematic, colorful, glamorous and a bit of punk rock gothic. High fashion print publication editorials are often inspired by Burton, a director who inspires me personally as a girl who wants to eventually make my own movies, and as a model directing my own work nowadays, as I was in this Alice in Wonderland style shoot. Now, how come so few editors make use of eco-friendly clothing, accessories and swimwear? For some reason, many people, magazine editors I love included, declared long ago, "Eco-friendly fashion is not chic, nor worth a second glance." Recycled materials do not mean swimsuits that actually look like Whole Foods paper bags.

Ever since i began eating vegetarian, I love the idea of saving the environment through small, blink and you miss it lifestyle choices like where I get my clothing. The problem is, not very many apparel providers make attractive clothing, much less swimsuits. I was overjoyed when I learned about Odina Surf, an eco-friendly brand made for people who want to look sexy and work out on the beach. Anyone who doesn't realize how revolutionary that is need only to flip through a painful Google search for eco-friendly clothing. And often, eco-friendly gets mistaken for cheaply made materials about to fall apart after the first wear. I was really happy when I saw these are made from a sturdy, yet soft material. The bikinis mold onto your body well, so you never have to worry about anything falling off. It's great how you can find good eco-friendly swimwear below the Stella McCartney price tag. What I love about these bikini tops is you get an option on wearing moldable cups. Personally, I think they have enough coverage that when wet, you should be safe enough not to worry about them being too sheer. The cut is really flattering on a woman's figure - check out the company's main website to see a variety of models with different bust sizes - and should you want to insert cups into the triangles, you can. A typical swimsuit comes prepackaged with horrific-fitting cups that may or may not make you look like you are stuffing your bra top with Kleenex...hello, 13 Going on 30! Or worse, giving you the appearance of your chest divided in half on each side, looking like packing bubbles. Here, you can use a foam chicken cutlet cup of your choice with the bikini top that fits you perfectly. True story: I once had my foam cup fall out when I was playing water basketball with someone I just met! And as the old motto goes about not befriending anyone who mistreats you, why should I own a bikini top so ill-fitting that it doesn't look good without cups? I like having options!

At first, you may think, "What happened to my swimsuit bottoms?" Here in America, we are so accustomed to unflattering suits, and personally, many bikini bottoms tend to make me look like I am wearing a giant diaper, ballooning from side to side until I get a square, lumpy behind. The swimsuits have an attractive, almost Brazilian style cut in the back, although not so much that you're going to flash a nearby child while you jog! The coverage is most certainly there. You can always go up to another size if you feel a bit bashful, but I say, dare to bare! You don't have to worry about oddities like, oh, the humiliating, photo-ready wedgie riding up when you surf or swim. Ironically, wearing less bulk on the bottom makes your bottom look more shapely. If you notice when you look at the bikini bottom in real life, the X-stitching in the middle pleats the look together, holding you in so you get a miniature lift, no surgery required! This may sound too good to be true. Try it on to see what I mean when I say less is more. Remember, all your favorite Victoria's Secret models of past and present wear this style bottom when they aren't working! You too can look like your favorite Brazilian bombshell with the right swimsuit cut.

The small roping on some of the bikinis made by Odina Surf can be used as a bikini embellishment or a bracelet. I especially love the triple rainbow rope on the black bikini. In addition to this, Odina Surf is currently selling rope-braid, chunky "SOS" bracelets benefiting the NYSEA Beach Relief. For anyone concerned about outsourcing labor, everything is produced within the United States. All of the brand's marketing materials and tags come from recycled wood and plastic. Each swimsuit is adjustable, much like a car safety belt, where you can adjust the bottom's position and the top cups' height, distance apart and width.
