Olympian Yulia Lipnitskaya isn't just a wunderkind on ice--she's got a few style tricks up her sleeve as well!

The pint-size superstar strapped on her skates and wowed the world this week in the women's team competition, helping to bring home the gold for Russia.

But did you notice that there was something rather, um, different about Lipnitskaya? And, no, we're not talking about her mad skills and amazing talent.

Yes, we're talking about her tights. What's up with her pulling them over her skates?

It's not the first time she's competed wearing her hosiery over her boots. In fact, it's sort of become her signature style move:

A few weeks back, she even did it with black tights--which looked pretty cool, actually:

Want to know why she wears her tights like this? It's not just some quirky teenage affectation (Lipnitskaya is 15--yeah, what were you doing when you were 15?). According to the Guardian, this move is all about elongating her limbs.

"This is a look with a simple purpose: elongation," reports the paper. "Legs seem longer, the scissor jumps and splits look even more impressive, and the grace and awe-inspiring bendiness of figure skating becomes even more spectacular."

So there you have it.

Now, excuse me while I run to the grocery store with my black opaque Uniqlo tights pulled over my Uggs.

Just kidding. Maybe.
