Bettys, if you're anything like us, you're constantly on the go-and as a result, you're usually trying to juggle your cell phone, your wallet, your purse, your Metrocard, and a zillion other things, all at the same time. Quelle nightmare!
But that's where Jamie James comes in. Jamie knows where you're coming from-and we have to tell you, when we discovered her line of unique wallet/smartphone case hybrids, we were all over them! So how exactly did a busy mom and lawyer end up in the design world? We sat down with Jamie to chat about just that! Read on to find out how she created her company, where she finds her inspiration, what her favorite smartphone app is, and more!
BettyConfidential: How did you become a designer?
Jamie James: As both a lawyer of twenty years and a mother of four kids, I always found myself juggling several accessories-including my wallet, purse and cell phone. As I watched my eldest daughter, Kaitlyn, carry her ID and credit cards inside a regular jelly case secured for her smartphone, I recognized a need-a need which could be filled by the Cellfolio! I chose the name "Cellfolio" because it combines a cell phone case with a portfolio of all the necessities of your wallet, such as ID, credit cards, room for some cash, and even a place to attach your keys.

BC: What do your designs mean to you?
JJ: My designs truly embody my personal style and spirit. Utility and sophistication are the hallmarks.
BC: Do you have a favorite Cellfolio design?
JJ: My favorite Cellfolio would definitely have to be the Princeton. As a lawyer, I am always having to show my ID to enter various courthouses and the Princeton allows me to flash my ID in style!
BC: Favorite smartphone?
JJ: The Blackberry! (But Cellfolios work with many different shapes and sizes of cell phones, though, including the iPhone!)

BC: Where do you find your inspiration?
JJ: I find my inspiration through my family. Because family has always been my priority, I involved them all in the endeavor. My oldest daughter, Kaitlyn (age 23), who was a senior at Princeton during the time I was creating the product, helped me with the design and with my original website. My daughter Caroline (age 11) picked a charity to which to donate a percentage of sales proceeds. My husband, Jay, and my sons, Nick (age 28) and Tim (age 26), helped to create the male version of the Cellfolio, known as the Manhattan. I also am lucky to have a lot of friends who believe in me.

BC: Have you ever created something and ended up not liking it?
JJ: Yes, but it never went to production. I only make what I would carry myself!
BC: What's your favorite smartphone app?
JJ: I love the Square App, which allows me to accept credit card payments through a mobile device. It comes in quite handy when doing business on the go!
BC: If you could have any celebrity, past or present, use your stuff, who would it be?
JJ: Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis or Kate Middleton. They both have the type of style that will be followed forever.
