Pippa Middleton: My Bridesmaid’s Dress May Have Fit “A Little Too Well”

Pippa Middleton was essentially unknown to the public before the royal wedding, when she sashayed up a staircase in an Alexander McQueen bridesmaid dress and, in an instant, managed to nearly upstage the main event. Facebook pages were created in honor of Pippa's assets, odes were written dedicated to her form (we can only assume), and she immediately became a celebrity and tabloid staple. While she hasn't spoken about the post-wedding hubbub previously, she decided to address the reaction last night during her first public speech, at a dinner held by the Women in Advertising and Communications.

Per the Daily Mirror, Pippa joked that her royal wedding gown may have "fitted a little too well." She quipped, "As I have found out, recognition has its upside, its downside and-you may say-its backside." Not bad, Pippa! Charming and elegant, with a dash of self-deprecation. She also told the 400 assembled guests that she could not sleep for two nights before Kate and William were married, which seems understandable. (If you think going to a wedding your college ex is going to be at is bad, imagine a wedding where everyone you've ever met or ever will meet in your entire life is watching you.)

A guest told the Daily Mirror, "It was the first time she's made a speech of this kind but you wouldn't have known it, she was so relaxed. It was unbelievable how open she was - I don't think anyone was expecting that . . . She came across as really grateful for the opportunities but also talked about the pitfalls of her position."

While we certainly wouldn't have complained if she had used the platform to defend Kate's under-seige tresses, or if she had played iPhone videos of Prince George on a projector, sounds like a solid first public speaking outing for Kate's younger sister.
