How to Pull Off Printed Pants

Cropped, harem, flowing, and fitted styles are making a stylish appearance this spring, so we asked Claudia Estrada, CEO and designer of claudiae, to give us the lowdown!
Which prints are "in" this season? When you're shopping for a pair of printed pants, look for bright, colorful shapes, stripes, and geometric patterns. Some "it" colors this season that translate well to printed pants are aqua, fuchsia, black, and off-white.

Which tops pair best with printed pants? Chic tops with horizontal times are perfect with printed bottoms. The best way to wear these tops is to choose a neutral color (black, white, cream) that meshes well with the eye-catching print. This way, you can let the pants steal the show! A white tank also works well - you can tuck it in or let it hang. If it's cool outside, balance the pants with a form-fitting jacket!

How should you accessorize with printed pants? Because these bottoms are so bold, make sure not to over-accessorize. Look for a simple, long necklace, cuff bracelet, or earrings to accent the pants without complicating the outfit. Try picking up a color in the pants when you're looking for jewelry to pair with it, or if you're ready for a risk, try color-blocking!
Which shoes work best? Dressing for daytime? Try wearing ballet flats with your printed pants. Brightly colored flats (think fuchsia!) are great for spring and summer. Heading out to dinner or out on a date? Try a pair of heels! Pumps and spikes also look great with prints and can help elongate your legs!

Can printed pants be worn at any age? They definitely can, depending on the pant! Printed leggings are a perfect all-age item that can be worn in many ways. Rocking a cropped top and tight, printed pants shows off more skin, while throwing on a longer top with bold patterned leggings is more conservative.

Can printed pants be worn year round, or are they primarily a warm weather trend? Printed pants can definitely be worn all year long. Just make sure the fabric is season and temperature appropriate. For example, if the pair of pants is wool, don't wear it during the summer months. The same goes for linen in the winter - use your fashion sense!
