Pulling Off Peplum

When I first heard peplum was making a comeback, all I could think was, "You want me to do what?
Add MORE fabric around my waist?" That can only result in a bulky fashion disaster, right?
Thankfully, I was wrong! Peplum's cinched waist and flared hips actually flatter our curves in all the right places. (Who knew?!)
Shannon Davenport, the Women's Editorial Lead for Stylesight, shows us how to pull off the trend. Here's what to keep in mind:
MIX IT UP: Mixing streamlined pieces with peplum EHANCES your natural hourglass figure, showing off those curves. That means classic pencil skirts, slim trousers, and silk button-ups are all ideal pieces to pair with peplum.
For a bolder look, Shannon suggests wearing a peplum top with wide-leg trousers.

DRAMA VERSUS DAYTIME: Stiffer fabrics and pieces with more structure mean one thing: drama. Bouncy double knits, bonded wools and neoprenes are all great picks for a night out with the girls, or a special occasion.
For daytime, drapey silk styles are a little more relaxed, making them more appropriate for work and lunch dates. And here's some good news: Silkier styles are also easy to transform into nighttime staples, giving you the most bang for your fashion buck!

PRINTS AND PATTERNS: Peplums in prints and patterns are definitely something to have fun with! Things like florals, checks, and animal prints all play off of the femininity of peplum, and are a great way to liven up your outfit.
