Skinny Model Update: They Are Actually Getting Skinnier

Did any of you happen to catch this article in the Wall Street Journal a few weeks ago? According to the WSJ, 17-year-old model Ali Michael), last season's It Girl, managed to book only one show at Paris Fashion Week. Why? Because she gained 5 lbs! "Miss Michael was told by casting directors for the runway shows that her legs were too plump, according to her mother, Mary Ann Michael, who travels with her daughter to appointments and shows," reports the Journal.

As we watched the girls on the runway this season, Sasha (our Deputy Fashion Director) and I were commenting on how some of them actually look skinnier than last season. In fact, in the history of my career, they are the skinniest I have ever seen. A friend of mine who works for a modeling agency tells me the girls that are getting booked are the "Development" girls - the ones that are just starting off and who actually are not even developed. And major stylist told me that it is all about super skinny, super flawed, and super young. Scary. What do you think about it? If you could pick your ideal runway model, who would it be?
