Olivia Palermo, Giuliana Rancic, and Karolina Kurkova are just some of the stylish ladies hopping on the skort bandwagon. They're all wearing the Zara origami style.

One surprising item invaded nearly every young woman's closet this summer: the mini skort from Zara. Skorts, a skirt hybrid of skirts and shorts with a flap across the front, were initially popularized in the 1960s as increasing numbers of women began playing golf. The easy movement and coverage of shorts combined with the feminine lines of a skirt have continued to make skorts an activewear go-to. Pretty, everyday skorts were a wardrobe staple in the 1980s and early '90s, especially amongst kids, and then completely disappeared. Somehow, out of nowhere, Zara single-handedly resurrected the hybrid garment with a cool origami-style wrap. This season the Spanish retailer has a whole new batch of skorts, and many brands at every price point from Forever 21 to Valentino is on board with the trend. Now, if only someone would bring back culottes. By Joanna Douglas, Yahoo Shine Senior Fashion and Beauty Editor
