Since it's a gross rainy day from Florida to Maine today, chances are good you're not by a blow-dryer right now--and they're even better that your hair is frizzy. Fortunately, there are ways to smooth it without starting all over.

- Any lightweight hand or body lotion (the kind that absorbs quickly into your skin) can smooth hair almost as well as an anti-frizz cream. "Rub a dab between your palms, and clap your hands before running them over your hair," says hairstylist Nathaniel Hawkins (just go with it). "If a lotion doesn't make your skin greasy, it won't make your hair greasy, either."

- You can smooth fuzz quickly by misting hair spray or shine spray on a brush and running that over your hair. The trick works even better if you use a brush with boar bristles, like a Mason Pearson.

- Moisture causes frizz, and heat removes moisture. So you do the math: If you have a flatiron or a curling iron stashed in your desk drawer, a quick pass with either will help smooth things over.
