Seemingly since the dawn of makeup, shiny skin has been considered the ultimate beauty sin. Year after year, as the weather warms up, we roll out the powdery foundations, blotting papers, and oil-absorbing everything. But this time around, we're going to suggest something truly radical: Embrace the sheen. On the heels of the recent matte-makeup craze, a complexion that's one step past dewy suddenly feels fresh. For the look here, the makeup artist Maud Laceppe dabbed eyelids, nose, and cheekbones with Nars The Multiple Illuminating Stick in Copacabana and misted the model's visage with olive oil. "It makes skin look so warm, sexy, and healthy," Laceppe says. Not ready to move the bottle of Bertoli from the kitchen to the vanity? Get glowing on a smaller scale with a gleaming lip, preferably in fireball red (like Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick in Impassioned). It's a hue that was all over the spring runways, from Altuzarra to Antonio Berardi. And, if you must, it looks just as chic with a politely powdered nose.
