Style.com's item of the week: speed reading

Long before Stella McCartney and Yohji Yamamoto hopped into bed with Adidas and Alexander McQueen ran wild with Puma, the worlds of sports and fashion exerted an influence on one another. It runs from the Belle Époque bloomers ladies donned to ride bicycles (the forerunner of pants on women) to the streetwear-goes-to-Wimbledon looks of the Williams sisters. A new book edited by Ligaya Salazar, curator of Contemporary Programs at London 's Victoria & Albert Museum , explores the topic with exceptional depth and breadth. The tome includes hundreds of inspiring images as well as contributions from athletically inclined tastemakers like Kim Jones, the Stylesniper, and Mihara Yasuhiro. The colorful volume is out June 1-run, don't walk.

Fashion V Sport, edited by Ligaya Salazar, published by Harry N. Abrams, $37.50, available at www.hnabooks.com.
