The best Father's Day gifts that aren't grills

I'm ashamed to say that I'm not terribly inspired when it comes to Father's Day gifts. I think I've bought my dad a barbecue thermometer from Brookstone on three different years. (To be fair, last year's had a smart chip.)

If you're looking to surprise your dad (the big day is Sunday!) with something that doesn't reference grilled meats, golf, beer, ties, or whatever it is men are supposed to like, here are some alternatives:

Kiehl's Limited Edition Dopp Kit. Do you know Jesse James, the motorcycle guy? (A.K.A. Sandra Bullock's husband?) Well, Kiehl's got him to design this limited edition kit, filled with his favorite products. It sounds random, but one of the founders of Kiehl's was a huge motorcycle enthusiast, and the company has amassed a tremendous vintage collection--hence the connection.

Burberry Brit for Men Gift Set. My dad thinks conditioner is girly (I know, don't get me started), yet when he runs out of this clean, woodsy scent, he calls me up like an angry beauty editor, wanting to know when he can expect a delivery. I can understand why-it smells manly and woodsy without veering on forest ranger territory.

Jack Black Sun Guard. When I find out my dad has been outside without sunscreen, my blood boils. I've quickly learned you need to squeeze sunscreen in the man's hand in order to get him to use it. Pick up a few Sun Guard products for your pops, put them in a bag, add a little tissue paper, and be done with it. Now that's a gift that shows you care.

The Art of Shaving 7-Piece Manicure Set. I've found that some men can let the rest go to heck, yet they remain more meticulous about their nails than Kathie Lee Gifford. This stainless steel set contains every implement their little hearts' desire. And all men love tools, right?
