The Craziest Things We Saw at Last Fashion Week

Do you know what's about to take place in just a few days? The Spring 2012 Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week! In case you can't tell, we're pretty psyched. Mostly to get the backstage scoop on upcoming hair, makeup, and nail trends -- but we may also try to sneak in to a show a la Piper Weiss.

In preparation for the big event, we decided to reminisce about last season's fashion week. Here are some of the craziest things that happened:

1. The models that walked in Alexander Wang's show actually had clay mixed into their hair and eyebrows, while Gary Graham's models were sent down the runway in a look called "melancholy Cleopatra," a.k.a. thick, black eyeliner that covered the entire lid. No joke.

2. Leighton Messer came to Michael Kors' show looking like she just rolled out of bed. Aren't celebs supposed to get dressed up for these things? At least Leighton's "Gossip Girl" co-star Blake Lively looked the part.

3. Using a soft eye shadow brush at the lip line gives those models those plump lips (genetics help too). And pearl colored eyeliner, applied at the inner rims can take care of even the most bloodshot model's eyes.

4. Nail polish was used as paint to create fake "rings" on fingers, shine spray was the most used product throughout the week, and security is kind of a joke. (No wonder Piper made it in.)

Excited yet?
