The Motivation Behind DVF's Wrap Dress Design

As we learned yesterday, white jeans may help get you land a one night stand...but how the heck do you escape in the morning? That, my friends, is what Diane Von Furstenberg created her iconic wrap dress for. Seriously.

Back in the 80s, a french reporter asked the designer how she came up with the idea for the frock that launched a major fashion career when it made its debut in 1972. Her response at the time? "Well, if you're trying to slip out without waking a sleeping man, zips are a nightmare." Just a couple of days ago, another journalist--this time from the Telegraph UK--reminded her of that answer, which resulted in a little giggle and this follow-up: "Haven't you ever tried to creep out of the room unnoticed the following morning? I've done that many times."

And that, dolls, is what we call "keeping it real"...
