The scariest detergent commercial ever (video)

Why Did the Paycheck Fairness Act Get Voted Down?

By Joanna Douglas, Shine staff

Commercials for laundry detergent are boring and predictable. Laundry baskets piled up. Mom tries to remove stubborn grass stains. Perhaps there's even a side-by-side comparison of two brands, before and after. Snooze. Woolite is looking to change up their image and grab your attention, so they hired Rob Zombie-the metal musician and director of horror movies like "House of 1,000 Corpses" and the 2007 remake of "Halloween"-to make a new TV commercial for the brand.

The new ad, called "Torture" was inspired by focus groups who compared washing machines to torture chambers for their garments. Zombie was given $15,000 to illustrate such torture, and the result is so creepy! It reminds us of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre."

"We've repositioned Woolite as more of a daily-use detergent for all the fabrics that require special care, and we've been trying to communicate this to consumers over time," Jiri Kulik, general manager for United States household marketing at Reckitt Benckiser told the New York Times. So does this mean Rob Zombie has delicates? Take a look at tell us what you think of the new ad.
