The Top Trends in Fall Shoes
This year, fall shoe trends aren't terribly dissimilar from years past. If anything, the trend is that designers are putting new twists on previously popular styles. Like what? See five of our favorites below-which incorporate more than one trend in a single style, giving you even more bang for your fall-fashion buck!
Chunky Heels
If you're over last year's stiletto trend, or just want a more stable heel to help you navigate fall's wet sidewalks, you can rejoice that chunky heels are making a comeback. Snag the look (as well as fall's suede trend) with Steve Madden's "Sarrina," which is available in six colors from Zappos ($100).

Buckle Details
Buckles popped up on plenty of fashion shows last fall, and there's back this year, too. High-end designer Christian Siriano sent them down his runway-and incorporated the look into his fabulously affordable collection for Payless. His harness ankle boot ($70) features a printed snakeskin upper (another trend!) and sassy gold-tone hardware. We love this style paired with wide-legged trousers or black tights.
Wardrobe Basics Every Woman Should Own
Platform Wedges
The long-standing platform silhouette has gotten an update by being paired with a wedge instead of the standard stiletto of chunky heel. The style is obviously a favorite of designer Marc Jacobs, as it was seen on the runways for both his signature line and his Marc by Marc Jacobs collection. Aldo is offering a few platform wedge designs this fall, our favorite of which is the "Eppihimer," ($120) which combines the trend with an equally trendy menswear-inspired look.

Reptile Prints
Exotic skins are hot in both shoes and bags this year with snakeskin being most popular in footwear. Seen in collections from Balenciaga to Michael Kors, the style is a definite must-have for the season. The "Landy" ($89) from Jessica Simpson is a great way to get the look without spending too much. We also love the on-trend squared toe.
Affordable, Super-Stylish Jackets and Coats
Laces
A carryover from the spring season, lacing details on shoes are all the rage this fall. While getting in and out of lace-up shoes can be challenging, the extra effort is well worth the statement your footwear can make. If you don't want to go with a more aggressive lace-up knee-high boot, opt for a subtler look with these suede wedge booties ($79) from Urban Outfitters' house brand Kimchi Blue.
