This Season's Must-Have Staple? A Plain White T-Shirt

Here's good news for girls who are mindful of their piggy banks: This season's must-have style item can be yours for as little as a buck!
Celebrities have been sporting plain white T-shirts from the sidewalks to the red carpet lately, and we're loving the clean, simple look --and the fact that it's accessible to just about every woman on the planet!
Kate Bosworth proved that simplicity can be chic when she wore this Jil Sander number to the Hollywood Style Awards recently. She looks totally unfussy and yet completely glam.
One of our favorite style stars, Michelle Obama, was spotted leaving her Hawaiian vacation earlier this week in a sassy bright pink and purple leopard skirt with a jeweled belt. How do you keep all of that pattern and volume from looking overdone? Add a plain white T on top, naturally!
And then we have star of the TV series Fairly Legal, Sarah Shahi, hitting the red carpet at an Us Weekly Hot Hollywood event in a pretty printed skirt, platform Mary Janes, and the simplest of tops. You can add a bit of embellishment for fancier events--we're digging her poufy sleeves--but the look is still all about simplicity.
The plain white T-shirt is a genius solution for all of those bottoms you have no idea what to wear with, and that would otherwise be collecting dust in the back of your closet (hello, sequin leggings!). In fact, it's one of my go-to pieces when I'm stumped for styling ideas, and I'm so happy to see stars embracing it on the red carpet and beyond.
