This Week in Celebrity Fashion: Ghoulishly Great

Because it's Halloween, I was ready to get scared by this week's fashions. Instead, the (blood) red carpet delivered some impressively undead looks, in always frighteningly festive black and ghostly white.

Is Jessica puffed up because she's back with Justin or is she just happy to see us? Yes, the shoulders on this gown are crazy but I love them. The peekabo bodice add some jazziness and the golden leaf belt gives this look a very classic grace.

I've raved about Michelle before and with dresses like these, I'm going to keep raving. What's lovely about this gown is how deceptively simple it is - it seems like the only decoration is the golden bodice detailing until you notice that the skirt is completely sheer. It's a subtle sexiness that few manage so well.

More sheer drama. I am in love with the insane embroidery on this dress but there's even more to it than that. The entire thing is actually sheer, making Rosie a bold girl.

I don't know how much I want to embrace the whole "blazer on the dress" idea. It's kind of a like a "I'm on the red carpet but I still mean business" vibe which doesn't make much sense to me, like covering an amazing painting with a curtain. Nonetheless, Sandy looks great because the lengths on the dress and jacket complement each other.

Has Madge entered a new age of sedate and mature ensembles? I kind of hope now. Even though this dress is lovely, its awkward length and generally somber tone doesn't have Madonna's usual flair for the overly dramatic.

It's not every woman who can pull off a dress that has both exaggerated hips and a fence-like design. But not only does Marion manage that, I can't get over the awesomeness of those heels. They make the look.

Both Naomi and Camilla rocked Ralph Lauren at an event honoring him in NY this week. Naomi's look references the 20′s but is timeless. Camilla's is heavy on the train and the drama but modern. More women could wear the first dress but it's the second dress that you remember.

There are about four different fabrics and textures on Carey's dress so it should be overwhelming but it's not. From the nearly invisible nude straps to the cas belt to the tiered skirt, everything about this dress works. I'm also really feeling Carey's platinum 'do and nearly nude face.

There's something I like about the black and grey ensemble on the left - maybe it's the really tailored fit, the unexpected tights or the textures of the fabrics? But can we, after seeing the dress on the right, bury the whole colorblocking concept? While the shape is chic, I'm just tired of mismatched colors being sold as the latest in modernity.

Yes kids, there really is a Salma Hayek. After last week's faux pas, Salma's back in her glama-mama role with body-hugging bodice and flattering designs. The leopard print edges out the shirred black & brown as my favorite, but only by a cat hair.

There are some dresses that shouldn't work, like this one. The length is odd, the peekabo front strangely unsexy. Yet…I somehow really like it. Maybe because Keira isn't va-va-voom so the dress becomes more a piece of art than a curve-wrapping outfit.
