Three Things We Loved Today: New York Fashion Week Day 8

We're in the home stretch of New York Fashion Week! As Shine's senior fashion and beauty editor, I'm getting the scoop backstage and attending as many fashion shows as I can to highlight three eye-catching things I see each day. Here are my favorite snapshots from day 8:

1. Mix-and-match florals at Nanette Lepore

Each of these aqua and coral designs are beautiful on their own, but together they're a delight. The modern, structured top would look chic with skinny dark jeans and heels, and I'd love to wear that skirt with a simple t-shirt and sandals.

2. Marchesa's star-studded front row

Marchesa's dresses look so insanely gorgeous on the red carpet at award shows, but they are truly a sight to behold up close. Clearly celebrities agree, because nearly every famous person in town showed up to check out the latest collection by designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig. From left to right we spotted Rachel Zoe, Kelly Osbourne, Michelle Tractenberg, Rachel Roy, Sarah Hyland, Tyra Banks, Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, and Stacey Kiebler. And that's not all! Abigail Spencer, Jenna Dewan Tatum, Bar Rafaeli, Sky Nellor, and Anna Wintour were also in attendance. Giving Marchesa a run for its money was the Michael Kors show, which had Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Marisa Tomei, Katharine McPhee, and Camilla Belle sitting front row.

3. Anna Sui goes punk
The Chinese-American designer has become known for her rock and roll-themed fashion shows, but this season she strayed from her '60s roots. Her invitations, program, and background design featured '80s punk rockers like Sid Vicious and transformed the 'A' from Anna into Anarchy signs. Her collection had a toughness that was distinctly '80s with biker jackets, leather collars, black mesh tops and leggings, Wayfarer-style sunglasses, and neon colored wigs. And in case we didn't get the hint, The Ramone's "I Wanna Be Sedated" scored the show. It may be an intense look styled as-is, but this is a fashion show! The takeaway: I'd happily wear all these pieces individually. Hey Anna, call me!
