-the sex of Kate Middleton's baby

We know Fashion Week is weird. You may wonder why are people presenting their fall collections when it's only February. Or why we should even care what designers make when only a very small percentage of people can afford their stuff. But believe us, if you're really into style, it matters! The clothing, accessories, hairstyles, and makeup shades all create a huge trickle-down effect, and what we see this week will be popping up in some shape or form in mass retail stores, small boutiques, and everywhere in between come September. Want to get ahead of the curve? Or just see and read about some really awesome stuff? Just scroll down a wee bit more for the three best things we saw today.

1. Perfect dresses at Tadashi Shoji

This Japanese-born designer has been dressing many stars during recent award seasons, and we're not surprised. Every dress that came down his runway made us audibly ooh and ahh. This lace and burgundy chiffon dress looks vintage yet modern. Feminine yet cool. The addition of giant costume earrings, berry-stained lips, and a leather belt were spot-on styling choices. Please oh please can we have a reason to just once wear a dress this pretty?

2. Cozy grunge at BCBGMAXAZRIA

Forgive us for being practical but not everything on the runway has to be ultra-gram. It was 25 degrees in New York City today, and we were psyched to see all the models at BCBG wearing beanies. Gasp! They're just like us! Actually, the inspiration was "an effortlessly cool Kate Moss," but whatever. We appreciated the '90s-style layering and minimal makeup.

3. The Target x Prabal Gurung launch party
OK, so this was technically in the very wee hours of the morning, but Target threw literally the best event we've ever been to or will ever go to in our lives. Forget our prom night, bachelorette parties, and our future weddings. Those could never compete with: A full carnival complete with carousel, spinning upside-down rides, and games, people on stilts, every kind of carnival food plus yummy local food carts, a full bar, a live performance by Neyo, celebs like Elizabeth Olsen and Rashida Jones just hanging out, and a store to shop the new Prabal Gurung for Target collection a week early. Yup, we experienced all that. (By the way, the kaleidoscope print sweatshirt is totally worth $29.99. We already got a million compliments on it.)
