Toms Makes Republican Shoes … and They Sell Out

With the election just around the corner, shoe company Toms has created political-themed shoes to encourage people to get out and vote come November. The shoes come in a blue, donkey-printed pair for Democrats, a red, elephant-printed pair for Republicans, and a non-partisan pair that says, "Vote." Each design is sold for $58. The kinda odd part? The Republican shoes are already sold out.

This is a major headscratcher because Toms is known for attracting an earthy-crunchy, hippy-dippy type crowd, so you would think their customers would lean toward the left and the Democrat shoes would be flying off the shelves. Instead, it's the Republican pair that seems to be most popular.

With Urban Outfitters selling both pro Romney and Obama graphic tees and beauty company Bliss selling presidential candidate-themed lotion, it's not surprising that Toms jumped on the bandwagon and created a pair of election-themed shoes, but it is a tad on the shocking side to see that so many Republicans are buying from such a liberal brand.

Maybe this just means Republicans are more likely to show off their presidential preferences than Democrats? Either way, we're still slightly confused, but glad to see that Toms is encouraging getting out to the polls in such a fashion-forward way.

What do you think?
Would you buy Toms election-themed shoes?
