Try Natalie Portman's Easy-to-Do Looped Ponytail Look

Natalie Portman may have that pregnancy glow, but it was her chic, looped ponytail, which she wore at the Palm Springs International Film Festival gala over the weekend, that captured my attention. It's a look that's easy to do and gives a sophisticated style in seconds. For tips on re-creating her ponytail at home (complete with pictures of Natalie's 'do at all angles), just keep reading.

  • Blow-dry hair using a shine-enhancing gel, like Kiehl's Strong-Hold Styling Gel ($15).

  • Create a strong side-part in the hair, taming any flyaways with a shine-enhancing serum, such as Phyto Phytolisse Finishing Serum ($30).

  • Gather hair back into a low ponytail, but instead of pulling the hair all the way through the elastic as you would a traditional pony, form a loop. Let several inches of the ends of the hair hang out of the elastic. Tip: if your style's not quite long enough, try a ponytail extension, like Avon's Toni Ponytail ($29).

  • Next, wrap the end section you left out around the elastic, and pin to secure. Finish by using your fingers to fan out the loop, and spritz with hairspray if needed.
