The Turband Trend: Why We're Loving it and Ways You Can Rock

by Alexandra Samuel

WireImage/Getty ImagesWireImage/Getty Images Oh my God you guys, did you spot Kourtney Kardashian rocking that adorable Jennifer Behr Leather Turban? It kind of reminds me of the shot of Vanessa Hudgens rocking the look over the summer. In fact, I feel like tons of celebs are pulling out the Turband* look, and maybe us fashion mortals should dive in head first for Fall too.

*Yep, I said Turband. That's turban (think: Liz Taylor in the 1960s) plus headband. And before you run away chuckling, we think you should consider it.

Rock it right and it's ultra-chic, not ultra weird. The secret? Choose a solid color Turband with clean but dramatic makeup. Translation: liquid liner, red lips, and black turband = Brooklyn boho perfection.

While we completely adore the leather turban look, unfortch some of us may have other things to spend $252 on (that's how much the Jennifer Behr one is). So, consider the adorbs kinder-on-the-wallet $30 stretchy version from Nasty Gal called the Pitch Black Turband.

If you try the trend, leave your hair down with a little bit of wave and a middle part for starters. You can amp up the wave if you're feeling disco fab, but for the every day look, keep it low key.

Turbands are also awesome at hiding third-day hair. If you want to pull your not-so-clean strands back, rock a low chignon with a side part. Let the wrap sit on the top part of your ears, too. It feels majorly awkward, but trust me, it looks great (and way better than forcing your ears to stick out or shoving the turban higher).

Can't commit to the full-bore look? Dip your toes in the turband waters with the gorgeous Eugina Kim Lula Turban Headband. Yeah, it's $90, but wear it like the most boho-chic version of ear warmers and you'll wonder how you ever lived without 'em. Also, you can get a similar version from Asos for just $14. You can't afford not to try it.
