You're scrolling through your Instagram feed, Snapchatting your friends, and replying to that massive group text-then you check the time and realize it's 4 o'clock in the morning. Welcome to the world of "vamping."

Apparently more and more teens are sneaking their computers and phones into bed and reserving the early hours of the morning for socializing rather than sleeping. And it's not a huge shock, considering so much of your day is already accounted for-school, homework, soccer practice, charity volunteering, chores, college applications…the list goes on. Enter #vamping, a reference to the other nocturnal creatures we love so much.

So what's the appeal? The middle of the night is the one time you can spend doing whatever you want, whether that's pinning, tweeting, 'gramming, or Netflix bingeing. And when the comments and likes start pouring in on your 3 AM selfie, it can feel like you're part of a club. But vamping isn't limited to texting your best friend about the latest episode of PLL-it's also about staying up late to pursue passions you might not have time for during the day. If learning how to code or watching YouTube videos on creating the perfect cat eye don't fit into your study schedule, there's always time after "lights out."

Now, ahem, pardon us while we put on our big-sister pants for a second. But as you know, getting a good night's rest is essential, especially when you have a million and one things to keep up with. There's nothing worse than the agony of pulling an all-nighter and having to stay awake the next day, which is similar to the fatigue of regularly depriving your body of the rest it needs. So while we're all about socializing in all the ways, we're also just gently saying, like, maybe put the phone in a drawer the night before your big Calculus exam or something? OK, sorry, couldn't help ourselves!

So what do you think of the trend? Are you already #vamping, or do you prefer some good old-fashioned beauty sleep? Let us know in the comments below!
